Words of Wisdom

Schedule improvements look just as promising with a few of our pilot projects seeing reductions of up to 30%. While cost and schedule improvements were expected, the benefits have gone well beyond that. Quality, safety, culture, and capability all improve with Lean IPD. Culture is the big winner when you ask project teams. Lean IPD creates an environment for collaboration and innovation. People enjoy working this way. At its core, Lean IPD enables us to get the right people together at the right time to work on our most challenging problems. Who wouldn’t love that?

Owner-exclusive training at
2017 LCI Congress

Projects start with a bang of good intentions and often get stuck. Instructor Rex Miller, Mindshift, calls this the “Romance to Reality” trap. Getting Over the Hump: Getting Beyond Good Intentions to High Performance is the only owner-exclusive training at 2017 LCI Congress and will leave owners with ways to avoid common traps that suck time and money out of a project.

Add Getting Over the Hump, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 1-5:00 p.m., to your 2017 LCI Congress registration when you register by the early-bird deadline, Sep. 8!

If you’ve already registered for Congress, but want to add this owner-exclusive event, contact Carolyn Martin, cmartin@leanconstruction.org

LEAN BREW ANYONE?
How about a new twist on a Lean Coffee? During the summer months, the Southern New England CoP changed it up by turning the “Lean Coffee” into a “Lean Brew!” Instead of holding an early morning event, they have moved it to an after-work event at a local brewing company. What a great concept! The CoP gets the opportunity to draw a new audience and participants can support a local business while sampling a new beverage!

Does your CoP have an innovative idea to share? Send them to Denise Erminger at derminger@leanconstruction.org
