Words of Wisdom

RETHINKING RESOURCE ALLOCATION:
One owner described the importance of thinking about the team's time as a total number of hours to generate the most value…The conventional way of thinking about billable hours tied to tasks is, as the designer describes, "If I am not drawing that, you are taking my money away." The owner's response from the IPD point of view shifts away from taking away billable hours to allocating the designer's time to a better use: "I want to pay you to go out and be creative and design some stuff because that's what you love to do; it's what I need you to do."

Rally around the next
Last Planners Workshop

Let's make the next LCI Last Planners Workshop in Minneapolis on Tuesday, Sep. 11 the most effective one yet by encouraging any superintendents, foremen and tactical field managers you know with considerable Lean workface experience to attend!

The most recent Last Planners Workshop attracted 35 Lean practitioners with 170 years of combined experience, but now we're looking for an even larger group to put their minds together and find Lean solutions to challenges such as:

  • Achieving buy-in
  • Onboarding new team members
  • Engaging senior management
  • And any challenges attendees are facing in their projects.

If you know an experienced LCI corporate member who could benefit from this highly collaborative workshop, send him or her this flyer invitation for more information and the link to register!
