Sustaining Sponsor

Words of Wisdom

When asked, "What are your challenges in developing (maturing) Lean thinking in your local business?" a long-time LCI member, Lean practitioner and champion in his company said:

  • Getting people to experience the value first hand
  • Separating Lean from 'the last big initiative' that fizzled where everyone spent hours working on it that they will never recover
  • Generating real C-suite buy-in

Community of Practice (CoP) Corner -
National Practice Team connected
face-to-face, focused on strength

Increasing the strength, awareness and connectedness between LCI Communities of Practice (CoPs) and each of their individual local markets was the main focus of the National Practice Team's second quarter face-to-face work session in Dallas, Texas, on April 18. The National Practice Team, which includes LCI staff and leaders from each CoP and the Practice Committee, addressed first quarter successes and lessons learned in a large group huddle before deep diving into group discussions and activities such as:

  • Angela Bowman (The Boldt Company), LCI NorCal CoP, shared best practices for serving a large area with multiple markets
  • Elena Antil (Daniel O'Connell's Sons), Southern New England CoP, and Peter Ukstins (Davis Construction), D.C. Metro CoP, talked about the newly-formed Northeast collaboration group providing insight into their regional goals along with how the regional perspective will contribute to the growth and learning of the regional CoPs
  • John Zachara (Integrated Facilities Solutions, Inc.), Chicago CoP, facilitated a Lean Coffee at the end of the day to vote on and discuss topics from the day

From the networking reception the evening before with Dallas-Fort Worth CoP core group members to the concluding Lean Coffee, the National Practice Team found best practices and innovative ideas, formed new relationships, renewed connectivity and experienced a general feeling of unity with LCI as a whole.
