Owners, save the date for 2018 Owner Forum

The second annual Owner Forum on June 27 in Miami, Fla., is a chance for owners committed to Lean practices to collaborate on project delivery improvements. Owners face unique challenges along their Lean journey but do not need to face them alone because this owner-exclusive event will cover Gemba, Target Value Design, Big Room and a budget tracker for evaluating project health.

FMI Releases 2018 FMI/CURT/CII Owner Survey on Offsite Construction

FMI (Fails Management Institute) releases research that was conducted in collaboration with the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) and the Construction Industry Institute (CII) and involved more than 100 owner organizations. The publication sheds light on offsite construction’s current state in the U.S., explores owners' perceptions of benefits and impediments, discusses organizational implications, and highlights success stories.

Some key findings include:

  • Only 16 percent of respondents have stated offsite construction goals. These owners see better results compared to those who don't have stated offsite construction goals.
  • Almost 50 percent of owners still go with the traditional design-bid-build approach, which does not allow for optimal project planning of offsite construction.

Community of Practice (CoP) Corner -
CoP leaders –
Customize your page information

LCI Community of Practice (CoP) core group leaders have the opportunity to customize and optimize their CoP’s page on LCI’s website to ensure it tells the right Lean story for that community.

At your CoP’s next core group meeting, write a compelling introduction from your CoP’s unique perspective and send it with your CoP’s updated contact information and core group member roster to Denise Erminger, derminger@leanconstruction.org. You can even add additional information like the LCI Michigan CoP core group did on their page to provide a path for continued knowledge transfer!
