Too Much Work? To Little Time? Adopt Kanban!
Have you wondered how Lean is applied to knowledge work? You can stop. Come to the LCI-NE Community of Practice to experience how pursuing the goal of uninterrupted flow in the completion of architecture, engineering and other professional services work results in higher first-quality, happier staff, more satisfied clients and more profitable work. Nirvana? No, but in that direction!
Participants will learn to:
1. Visualize the process for producing work product.
2. Limit work-in-process to take care of each other, the client and the firm.
3. Give preference to finishing work before starting other work to keep work coordinated while avoiding rework.
4. Delivering client work is the key opportunity for improving the business of architecture, engineering and job-site construction management.
Our session is hands on. It will start with participants managing the production of work using a kanban board in four or five-person groups. Between the first and second rounds, participants will learn Kanban Method principles and practices. During round two they’ll experimentally evolve their process to get better flow and better output.
The session will finish with guidance from Kanban Method practitioners on how to bring the Kanban Method to their organization.
