Katie Wells – Brasfield Gorrie – As Director of Lean Construction at Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC, Katie Wells employs Lean practices in the company’s Operations and Preconstruction processes by encouraging improvement, removal of waste, identification of customer-defined values, and collaboration among teams. She works to drive positive change, collaboration, and innovation by coaching project teams toward utilizing Last Planner®, pull planning, target value design, and other Lean and IPD related methods. In previous estimating and project management roles, she has worked on more than $350 million worth of work for the company’s commercial and healthcare divisions. Katie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Building Science from Auburn University.
Douglas Lee – Brasfield Gorrie – Doug is a Vice President and Regional Preconstruction Director with Brasfield & Gorrie. He leads an estimating department of approximately 25 estimators and helps champion lean and innovative delivery models within the company. He started in the construction industry in 1995, and began his lean journey in 2007 on the Texoma Medical Center. Douglas graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Auburn University a long time ago. He has been lucky enough to be involved with estimating, coaching and facilitating over 20 IPD with Lean projects through preconstruction efforts, and was a contributing author to Target Value Delivery, Practitioner Guide to Implementation and Transforming Design & Construction: A Framework for Change for LCI. He has presented at the The Walt Disney Co’s IPD Summit and given multiple presentations and teaching engagements for Lean Construction Institute (LCI) on lean and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). Douglas lives in Birmingham, AL with his wife, Jennifer, of twenty-four years and three children.
