Last month, we reviewed how effective pull planning facilitation and participation helps establish a feasible Phase Plan that not only makes task hand-offs, work zones, and work paths explicit between milestones but also factors in the project’s technical scope and challenges. Lean implementation on projects encourages project teams to manage all elements of the Last Planner® System, including holding pull planning meetings to shake out a Phase Plan that will help inform Weekly Commitment Planning.
A panel featuring field, project management, and scheduling perspectives will explore how different companies have managed elements of the Last Planner® System, including the interface between Phase Planning, Lookahead Planning, and Weekly Commitment Planning. In particular, we will examine how Weekly Commitment Planning encourages Reliable Promising by project team members to ensure continuous workflow and minimize re-work. Join the discussion with our facilitator and panelists to:
1. Understand the key elements of Weekly Commitment Planning and how it connects to Milestones, Phase Planning, and Lookahead Planning
2. Learn about the importance of Reliable Promising and the leadership required to bring about Reliable Promising
3. Learn about the various approaches to Weekly Commitment Planning
4. Recognize how project challenges and project team capabilities can impact the effectiveness of Weekly Commitment Planning and how Daily Huddles can help with some but not all of these challenges
