The Road To 6S: Moving the Safety Meter

The construction industry remains one of the most hazardous industries in the United States in terms of the number of occupational fatal and non-fatal injuries. Workplace accidents can have a negative impact on cost, schedule, and quality. Therefore, it can be argued that improving workplace safety is a form of waste reduction and value generation. Thus, utilizing lean thinking will help to improve workplace safety.

Christian Quintero has been with Turner Construction since 2018. He graduated from Slippery Rock University with a degree in Safety Management. He has performed roles with Turner both in the Healthcare and Aviation markets. In 2019 he helped champion a lean initiative that helped gain a National Go & See recognition at his project FLL Terminal 2, which is ongoing.
