Join the New Orleans Community of Practice for coffee and a guided discussion focused on the “8 Wastes”.  Identifying and eliminating waste is a hallmark of Lean for Design and Construction.  Some waste is obvious, like excess material that ends up in a landfill.  Lean challenges us to dig deeper and recognize other wastes such as Waiting, Over Processing, Underutilized Talent, and others.  Learning to spot and address the eight wastes is an important step for teams looking to leverage Lean strategies to improve how they manage design and construction projects.

We invite practitioners of all experience levels to come share their insights, challenges, and successes with navigating the eight wastes.

No previous Lean experience is required. Take part in an open conversation in a safe, small and low-pressure forum to discuss topics that are relevant to our Lean community.  Join other architects, designers, engineers, contractors, trade partners, owners and associated professionals, all seeking a better way to build.

The LCI Lean Learning Series is a facilitated discussion-oriented event focused on a specific Lean subject matter. The event is more structured than a Lean Coffee yet shorter and less structured than a LCI education course. Its purpose is to provide just enough knowledge base to kick start an engaging Lean discussion amongst the participants.

This topic focuses on the 8 Wastes as relevant to the design and construction industry.

Participants will learn the definition of waste and descriptions of each of the 8 Wastes with examples for further exploration. Learning will include a before and after waste walk video example.

Attendance is free of charge

Pastries and refreshments will be served.
