As the second in our three-part virtual series on the Last Planner System®, this session will address how Last Planner® can be successfully used in design production management and with great synergy through integration with agile frameworks including Scrum. This allows for collaborative planning and capturing KPIs to measure if you are on target with your production plan. Summer and David Umstot will share real life examples of how teams have used Last Planner and Scrum on design-build projects to better integrate and deliver design and pre-construction services. This session will also address common points of failure that often trip up teams’ performance when using Last Planner. What are they? How might you avoid them? Lastly, the Umstots will also share how technology can be leveraged as projects scale in size and when COVID-19 does not allow for a full in-person integrated collaboration session.

David Umstot, PE, CEM is an internationally recognized authority in Lean project delivery. He has seen the industry from 360 degrees as a designer, builder, design-builder, facilities manager, executive, owner and coach and brings a unique perspective on how Lean can transform projects and organizations. A principal of Umstot Project and Facilities Solutions and an associate faculty member at San Diego State University and author of Lean Project Delivery | Building Championship Project Teams.
