This is the first of a series of three virtual meetings on the Last Planner System® (LPS®).
The Last Planner System is a means of improving the planning and execution of the Design and Construction phases of a Project. It consists of five levels plus connected conversations. Participants will learn the benefits and key concepts of LPS, the definition of Last Planner System and push versus pull methodology. Learning will include examples of LPS being implemented.
The next session will deal with the Practical Experiences of the Last Planner System and will be followed with a Lean Coffee so that personal experiences and learnings can be shared. Please plan to attend all three meetings, if possible.
Kenneth McBroom, McCarthy Buildng Companies, has over 25 years of construction experience working for general contractors, the last 17 years with McCarthy. Ken has supervised scheduling on over $10 Billion worth of construction projects; Hospitals, Airports, Schools, Hotels, Parking Structures, Heavy Civil Projects, Rail Projects and Environmental Remediation Projects and has personally scheduled and planned more than $1 Billon dollars of work over his career. His Lean journey began in 2011 with the Last Planner System.
Thais Alves, San Diego State University, is an Associate Professor and Director of the J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering and Management Program at San Diego State University. For more than 15 years, she has been teaching, advising students, researching and collaborating with construction companies towards the dissemination and implementation of lean especially in the field of production planning and control at construction sites. She has experience in implementing the Last Planner System in small to medium projects.
