Being a Lean company means delivering more value to the customer and reducing waste. BUT WASTE IS SO COMMON IN THE WORKPLACE MOST PEOPLE ACCEPT IT OR DO NOT EVEN SEE IT. Muda Walks, also called “Gemba Walks,” are one of the most useful ways for your team from leaders and managers to craftsmen, operators and laborers to see how the work is being done and how to improve it. Though highly effective, Muda Walks are one of the tools least taught and promoted because it does not require tons of training or special technology. This session will share tips and approaches not usually found in Lean books for spotting waste. It will include interactive exercises to help participants see waste in construction work.
Dennis Sowards – President of Quality Support Services, Inc. Dennis started in 2003 to help contractors implement Lean. He provides a unique look into the application of Lean theories and techniques as they apply to real life situations in the construction industry. Dennis learned how to do effective Muda Walks by Masaaki Imai, world recognized Lean Guru, and by doing Muda Walks with contractors at jobsites all over the country. He is the author of The Lean Construction Pocket Guide
