Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) as a Risk Management Tool in the Construction Industry
Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a powerful tool used to identify the risk of what could go wrong in a product, process, project or design. We will examine the use of the FMEA tool in managing risk associated with construction industry projects.
We will cover an introduction to the basics of the FMEA for those who are not familiar with the tool. The presentation will then focus on a more in depth explanation of customization of the rating scales and application of continuous improvement methodologies to the prioritized risk rankings of the FMEA output. Participants will apply their learnings in a hands on FMEA simulation.

Karen Tucker – Karen Tucker is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt who specializes in six sigma internal consulting, quality process improvements, FMEA application and risk mitigation techniques. She is the Director, Lean and Process Improvement for Kraus-Anderson Construction. Karen holds ASQ certifications as a six sigma black belt, quality engineer, quality auditor and quality manager.

PARKING – We have limited capacity in the parking ramp, but we can allow guests in our ramp free of charge until it is full. After that there are other ramps or street parking within a 1-2 block radius available.
Parking at the Kraus-Anderson office is complimentary. Our underground parking ramp entrance is located on 8th Street in between Kraus-Anderson’s Office and the HQ Apartment Building. There is a Public Parking Sign that indicates ramp is full, but rest assured, we have a spot for you.
When you arrive at the parking driveway, slowly approach the doorway which will open automatically. Proceed through the automatic doors and take an immediate right (do not proceed straight down the slope). Once you turn right, pull a ticket at the kiosk to enter the garage.
Park in the stalls marked “Reserved for KA Guest” which are located near the red elevator bank. Once parked, proceed to the red KA elevator bank (do not use the Public elevator bank).
Use the call box outside the elevator vestibule to inform the front desk you have arrived and they will “buzz” you into the vestibule. Take the elevator to the 1st floor. When you exit the elevator take a left and check in with the Receptionist. We have a digital guest system which will allow you to check in from an iPad at our front desk. Please indicate that you are here to see (Karen Tucker, LCI EVENT AT KAU), who will get a notification that you’ve arrived.
Be sure to obtain a validation voucher from the reception desk to use upon exit. **If you do not obtain a validated voucher, you will be required to pay upon exiting the ramp.
