An Owner and GC’s Lean Journey

The Boldt Company embarked on its Lean journey in 1998. Over the past 20 years, it has experienced multiple phases as it ahs moved from implementing Last Planner® as a tool to focus on enterprise transformation. Along the way, the company has participated in developing a number of tools or methods that are now standard in the Lean construction community including Target Value Design, Choosing by Advantages, Takt Planning and IFOA Contracting. In addition, the company has lead delivery of several landmark projects that have used Lean methods. Along the way, the Boldt has learned many lessons about effective leadership and steering a Lean initiative.

Digby Christian – Sutter Health FPS – Digby is the Director of Integrated Lean Project Delivery at Sutter Health in the Facility and Property Services group. His primary responsibilities are the development of an Expedited Project Delivery service line and the broadening and deepening the group’s expertise in integrated lean project delivery.
James Pease – Sutter Health FPS – James is a Regional Manager for Project Delivery for the Greater Sacramento Area at Sutter Health Facility and Property Services. He focuses on the delivery of complex capital projects using Lean and Integrated Project Delivery. He has a BS in Management Science from UC San Diego and is the executive editor of the IPD focused website https://leanipd.com
Angela Bowman – The Boldt Company – Angela came to the Boldt company in 2015 with an extensive background in the HVAC/Plumbing industry, where she has over 15 years of experience. Angela’s immersion in the initial system design and its continued management during the projects has been a great asset in eliminating many of the field conflicts typical to complex system design. She has been involved with Lean since 2007 and is the current Northern California CoP Leader.

Parking – Cost for parking is NOT included. There is valet parking available at the entrance to the hotel. There is also a below grade parking structure. When you pull into the hotel go down the ramp to the below grade parking structure. Turn right and take a ticket. There is also parking across the street at the BART parking lot.
