Job Description:  Marketing and Events Manager

The Lean Construction Institute (LCI) is currently looking to fill an open position for a Marketing and Events Manager in the Arlington, Virginia office. The Marketing and Events Manager will support the coordination of LCI national event details and marketing for the LCI Annual Congress, and will report to the Director, Program Development. Additionally, this position will spearhead the association’s social media plan as well as the marketing campaign for LCI Immersive Education Program resources.

LCI is an association with a vision to transform the design and construction industry with Lean implementation to provide more value to the end users and boost productivity. LCI has enjoyed growth in membership, in national and regional event attendance, and in education resources since its foundation in 1997. The highlight of Lean practitioners’ year is the LCI Congress, an annual five-day event which hosts more than 1,600 design and construction professionals.


Job responsibilities include:

Marketing and Communications support

  • Creating and managing a social media calendar that supports various LCI initiatives and publishing posts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn using Hootsuite’s scheduling tool
  • Tracking social media metrics on a monthly basis
  • Collaborating with staff to write copy for a monthly enewsletter and review the test enewsletter before send time
  • Writing copy for LCI Immersive Education Program emails (eLearning, surveys, etc.)
  • Providing direction for eLearning graphics for print and web
  • Drafting copy for the website, blog posts, press releases, etc.
  • Organizing and managing LCI’s flickr albums with photos from national and regional events
  • Implementing and maintaining paid social campaigns
  • Review email marketing messaging for the Annual LCI Congress
  • Presenting event marketing toolkits to speakers, planning team members, instructors, etc. virtually via GoToWebinar
  • Maintaining email schedule for national events and news releases
  • Developing and delivering a bi-annual marketing/social media training to 30+ chapter leads virtually via GoToWebinar

National event support

  • Setting up and managing the CadmiumCD Speaker Harvester, a speaker management system
  • Pulling reports on national event registration trends on a weekly basis
  • Loading and maintaining the conference app (Cvent’s Crowdcompass app)
  • Onboarding and assisting summer and fall interns
  • Providing attendee registration support as needed
  • Providing training and managing event volunteers prior to and onsite at LCI Congress
  • Assisting with writing content and copyediting LCI Congress printed program brochure
  • Note-taking during LCI Congress planning team calls

Committees/administration support

  • Serving as staff support for the LCI Lean Leader committee focused on developing Lean awareness among design and construction students and young professionals
  • Drafting agendas and taking notes for the bi-monthly Lean Leader committee calls
  • Answering LCI’s main phone line and responding to phone inquiries on memberships, national and regional events, and education resources
  • Other duties as directed


  • 2-4 years of professional working experience in marketing and events
  • Bachelor’s Degree (in marketing, communications or public relations preferred)

Other skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Self-motivated to work collaboratively or independently in a small office environment
  • Experience with Mailchimp (email platform), with Hootsuite (social media scheduling/tracking tool), and WordPress (website editing) a plus
  • Experience using Trello and Basecamp software for project management a plus
